Escape Game - The Lost Jewel Escape Game - The Lost Jewel Can you save the day and crack the code?

Love escape rooms? Play our bespoke Escape Game on board our heritage trains! Ideal for groups of up to six players, collect your game from Kidderminster Booking Office and see if you can crack the code whilst travelling on train.

The year is 1861; you've been invited onto a special train to enjoy the first trip across the newly constructed Victoria Bridge. Amongst the guests you see Queen Victoria herself. Although this is a heavily guarded secret, someone has found out and they're lurking in the corridors, heading towards the royal carriage. Are they planning to steal the Queen’s jewels? You have one trip along the line to crack the code and stop the thief. Will you be able to save the day?

Not suitable for children. Games must be returned to the booking office or gift shop at the end of your journey, or when the game is completed.

1940s Steam Railway Photography Workshop – Re-enactment Day 1940s Steam Railway Photography Workshop – Re-enactment Day Capture your greatest shots – sign up for the 1940s Steam Railway Photography Workshop at the Severn Valley Railway!

No previous photography knowledge or experience required, just bring your own camera (compact, bridge, DSLR, or even a mobile phone).

The Severn Valley Railway have teamed up with Lee Chapman of Chappers Photography, an experienced photographer and fully qualified lecturer in adult education. In the 1940s re-enactment workshop on Sunday 4th September, you will be transported back in time with our authentic stations, vintage locomotives and appropriately dressed reenactors. A wonderful chance to recreate some images from a bygone age.

This full-day course is a great opportunity if you are new to photography or if you already have some experience and want to brush up on your skills – this hands-on course will give you the chance to learn what your camera can do and develop as a photographer. Our expert tutor will guide you through the day and help you capture some amazing pho-tographs of the internal and external features of the railway. You will learn about por-trait, railway and re-enactment photography and pick up some skills and tips on how to capture your very best images.

Your day will start in style, when you arrive via train in one of our vintage carriages hauled under the power of steam into Highly Station. The Kinley Suite located in The Engine House will be our based for the day, here we will have access to the balcony to capture any trains as they arrive and depart the station. After a brief introduction to the basics of re-enactment & railway photography we will head down to the station to capture some of the buildings and locomotives.

We will then depart from Highley, once again experiencing the magic of vintage train travel to arrive for lunch at Kidderminster station. Here we will meet up with our period-dressed reenactors who will be working with us throughout the rest of the day. Our reenactors will pose in the station, await the incoming trains and work with us to capture the spirit of 1940s travel.

Following a short break, we will then board the train once more to head off to the beautiful station at Arley. En-route, we will be able to capture our reenactors onboard the vintage carriages. At Arley, we can make use of the air raid shelter and platforms for more unique photography opportunities with our reenactors.

We will then say goodbye to our reenactors as we depart for our base station of Highley to review the day and look over some of our images and discuss how we may be able to process some of these at home. Following a review and round-up of the day in the Kinlet Suite you will then be able to depart the workshop taking in the sights, sounds and smells of the railway as you return to your home station.
